Bridge replacement gets underway at Hurricane City Park

The West Virginia Division of Highways has begun replacing the Hurricane City Park bridge. Mayor Scott Edwards said the work began on Monday and will take place in two phases. During the first phase, contractors will add a precast box beam on the Hurricane side of the bridge to widen it, followed by repaving that side.

In the second phase, traffic will shift to the newly paved lane while crews replace older girder beams on the Teays Valley side with new precast box beams.

The Department of Highways estimates the project will be completed by June 11.
