Expect construction-related delays near the Chelyan bridge

Repair work near the Chelyan bridge is causing road closures and lane restrictions along Route 60 East.

The West Virginia Department of Transportation says crews are working on an expansion joint project near the bridge, leading to lane restrictions in the area. Route 60 East toward Montgomery was closed starting Tuesday, though officials have not said how long the closure will last.

Drivers should expect some delays as contractors continue work in the area. Eyewitness News said a separate project addressing a sinkhole along Route 60 East is also underway, but that work is not connected to the bridge repairs, and no timeline has been announced for either project.
