Former Nicholas County Schools Superintendent faces reprimand

The West Virginia Ethics Commission has issued a public reprimand to former Nicholas County Schools Superintendent Terrence Beam.

The commission says it reached a conciliation agreement after finding Beam violated the Ethics Act by hiring his step-grandson, Devin Amick, as a custodian.

Investigators say Amick had a prior misdemeanor conviction involving child erotica and did not disclose it on his application. Records show he worked for the school system from June 2024 through March 2025.

Beam was removed as superintendent last year following a state takeover of the district.

Beam has been fined 15-hundred dollars and ordered to complete ethics training.
