The Clay County woman charged following a deadly shooting involving her teenage son has been released on bond. Forty-eight-year-old Misty Winebrenner of Bickmore is facing three felony counts of child neglect and a misdemeanor charge of failure to report abuse and neglect. She was arraigned by a special magistrate due to her former employment in the county court system.
State police say Winebrenner’s husband, 37-year-old Ryan Bird, was shot and killed last week during a domestic altercation outside their home. Investigators say there was a history of domestic violence in the household.
Winebrenner posted a 30-thousand-dollar bond and is barred from leaving the state or contacting her children. The investigation is ongoing.
