West Virginia’s senior U.S. Senator has officially filed for re-election. Senator Shelley Moore Capito made her campaign official this week by filing paperwork with the West Virginia Secretary of State’s Office. Capito announced her intention to seek a third term in mid-December. First elected to the Senate in 2014, she currently serves as chair of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works. Capito will continue to focus on jobs and economic opportunity, and she believes recent tax relief efforts will help support small businesses. Candidates have until the end of the month to file, and at this time, five Republican challengers have entered the race for her seat.
