An arrest has been made after a juvenile brought a handgun to a St. Albans middle school earlier this week. Police say 46-year-old Heather Dawn Sherrod of St. Albans was arrested Friday and charged with failing to report a firearm. Investigators say a student at Hayes Middle School was found with a handgun on a school bus Wednesday afternoon, which was quickly confiscated by a teacher. The gun was later determined to be stolen. Police say Sherrod, a teacher’s aide at the school, was informed earlier that morning that the juvenile had pointed the gun at another student but failed to report it, despite being required to do so. Sherrod is being held at South Central Regional Jail on a $2,500 bond.
