Woman dies in Boyd County crash

Authorities say a woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 64 in Boyd County, Ky. Near mile marker 185 on Thursday, according to a release from the Boyd County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said that someone witnessed the vehicle lose control, go off the road and into a ravine between the eastbound and westbound lanes of the interstate. Deputies found the vehicle vertically wedged between several trees. The woman had been ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Sheriff’s Office said that weather conditions were a contributing factor, as all bridges on Interstate 64 were temporarily shut down following the crash until transportation officials were able to de-iced the highway. The woman’s name will be withheld pending notification of immediate family members.
