Drone helps catch a suspect in Kanawha County

A man accused of domestic violence was arrested Thursday after deputies used a drone to track him through a wooded area.

According to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, 48-year-old Anthony Clark is charged with domestic battery and being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.

Deputies say they responded to Conner Drive in Charleston for a report of an active domestic situation involving a man allegedly assaulting a woman, with a gun possibly involved. When officers arrived, Clark had fled into nearby woods and a deputy deployed a drone to track real-time movements until another deputy and a K-9 unit were then able to track him down. Authorities say Clark complied with commands, dropped the firearm and was taken into custody without incident.
