The training process for first responders in Kanawha County is getting a financial boost. The Kanawha County Commission voted to reimburse agencies that send personnel to the Sissonville Fire and Rescue School.
County Emergency Manager C.W. Sigman says the move benefits fire departments, law enforcement and EMS by encouraging hands-on, multi-agency training. Commissioner Lance Wheeler says the reimbursement will especially help the county’s volunteer fire departments, which often have to choose between training and basic operating costs.
The commission has set aside up to 60-thousand dollars from the public safety levy to support the program.
