More technology needed to help cases in child abuse and neglect

More legislation is being discussed to encourage the use of more technology in child abuse and neglect cases in West Virginia, with the goal of getting caseworkers out in the field more with families and children. “We believe technology can bridge a gap where we’ve historically seen a lot of problems,” Del. Adam Burkhammer said. “So cutting down on redundant work, cutting down on administrative burden, utilizing touch technology to bridge that gap.”House Bill 4602 would implement a pilot program where extra workers would be hired from private companies to help caseworkers with paperwork. It’s called Case Aide Services, and it’s ran by a company servicing child welfare.
