Parent faces charges for an altercation at Summersville basketball game

A Princeton man is facing several charges after an incident at a girls high school basketball game in Summersville. 56-year-old Ronald Vance Stroupe Jr. faces several charges after police said he was involved in a verbal altercation with another parent Tuesday evening at Nicholas County High School. After being repeatedly told to calm down, he was asked to leave but allegedly became belligerent and physical with the school resource officer.

As he was being taken into custody, a gun fell from his waistband onto the gym floor, according to police, who added that Stroupe grabbed the weapon and refused to release it before being disarmed with assistance from the Nicholas County Sheriff’s Department.

He was taken to Central Regional Jail.
