State lawmakers honor two men for their public service

Two former lawmakers were honored this week at the West Virginia State Capitol with separate memorial resolutions recognizing their years of public service.

Walt Helmick and Tim Armstead were remembered for their dedication to West Virginia. Both passed away last year after long careers in state government.

Armstead served on the West Virginia Supreme Court from 2018 until his death last August. Helmick previously served as the state’s commissioner of agriculture from 2013 to 2017.

The House adopted the memorial resolutions in their honor.
