Wayne water issues are becoming a court case

After three weeks without safe water, there’s finally relief for the Town of Wayne—but the fallout is far from over.

Mayor Danny Grace has lifted all restrictions on the town’s water supply, allowing residents to resume normal use. Now, the crisis has moved into the courtroom. Eyewitness News said a class action lawsuit was filed Thursday in Kanawha County Circuit Court against the Town of Wayne and American Electric Power. One of the plaintiffs’ attorneys, Anthony Majestro, says residents were not warned for three days that their water may have been compromised.

He argues that delay exposed people to potentially hazardous chemicals without their knowledge.

The case has been assigned to Judge Richard Lindsey, and plaintiffs are seeking class action status.
