Father and son await sentencing in Kentucky pill mill case

A Kentucky man has been convicted by a federal jury for running a high-volume pill mill in eastern Kentucky.

Prosecutors say 47-year-old Jeremy Bryson, of Harrodsburg, helped operate a clinic in Paintsville called Appalachian Family Medicine with his father, Don Bryson. Authorities say the clinic functioned as a cash-only operation that issued illegitimate prescriptions for controlled substances.

Investigators say the Brysons used a rotating group of medical providers and even misused an absent doctor’s DEA registration number to write prescriptions.

Jeremy Bryson was convicted on multiple drug, conspiracy and money-laundering charges. His father previously pleaded guilty in the case.

Jeremy Bryson is scheduled to be sentenced June 2 and faces up to 20 years in prison.
