A man who fired multiple rounds at St. Albans police last year has been sentenced to 25 years in prison.
19-year old Joel McGee of St. Albans, received five consecutive five-year sentences for the July 2025 incident. Officers urged the judge not to treat him as a youthful offender, which could have allowed release in two years or less. The judge imposed the maximum sentence, giving McGee credit for roughly 250 days already served.
. McGee fired about 20 rounds at officers serving arrest and search warrants at a B Street residence. He was wanted in connection with a July 1, 2025, murder investigation in Charleston, where a 20-year-old man was killed on Lewis Street.
