Kanawha County remained in yellow for the third straight day Thursday on the county alert map, while Putnam County moved from yellow to gold. Two new counties – Mingo and Harrison – joined Upshur County in orange on the latest Department of Health and Human Resources’ map. Gold counties in addition to Putnam in the latest map are Logan, Boone, Doddridge, Barbour and Berkeley. If Kanawha County remains in yellow for this Saturday’s school attendance map, it wouldn’t change the situation for in-person classes – they would still be allowed. More opportunities would be available for Kanawha County’s sports teams.
