Volunteers with the ACLU of West Virginia and West Virginia Family of Convicted People spread out across the state to help register people to vote within regional jails. In West Virginia, those who are in jail on a misdemeanor charge or awaiting trial for a felony charge can cast their vote. Volunteers visited all 10 regional jails to deliver and collect voter registration forms, then mail them to the correct county clerkâs office. About 20 voter registration forms were mailed from inmates at the South Central Regional Jail in South Charleston.
