A West Virginia delegate issued a statement Wednesday evening after video appeared to show him among the group of protestors at the U.S. Capitol. State Del. Derrick Evans, R-Wayne, who livestreamed many of the events throughout the day on his Facebook page, said he was there as an independent member of the media to document the day. Evans said in the statement he was not part of any destruction that occurred.
