Fifty-three of the state’s fifty-five counties are in the red or orange on the latest COVID-19 alert map. Kanawha, Putnam and Cabell counties were in orange. McDowell and Clay counties are the only counties in the gold.
Governor Justice is considering changes to the alert map. Justice is pushing for a January 19th return to school, and kids in junior high and lower grades would stay in school, regardless of what the map says. Justice is also considering broadening the orange category and raising the standard for what is considered red.
