Groundhog Day is coming up next week, but the pandemic won’t allow for an official celebration in West Virginia. The state’s famous groundhog, French Creek Freddie, will still offer a prediction on social media, but the DNR said its annual West Virginia Groundhog Day celebration at the Wildlife Center in Upshur County has been canceled. You can still follow the DNR’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages on Feb. 2 to see if Freddie predicts an early spring or more winter.
