Kanawha County Lawyer is Appointed to Judge’s Seat

Gov. Jim Justice has named a senior Kanawha County assistant prosecutor as a judge in Kanawha County. Maryclaire Akers has been selected to fill a judge’s spot that was left vacant in Kanawha County Circuit Court after the death of veteran judge Charles King. Akers has practiced law in the Mountain State for 21 years. Much of her career has taken place in the Kanawha County Prosecutor’s Office, where she has served as the chief of staff and is currently a senior assistant prosecutor.
