Yeager Airport could be getting a new name and logo within the next year. The marketing committee met this week to discuss the potential for a new name and logo for the airport and said they’re just discussing options right now. They could move forward with the change once the new U.S. Customs and Border Protection building opens late this year. The spokesperson said the goal for the change is to let people know where the airport is — in Charleston — and to be able to market the airport as a place for international aviation. The full board is scheduled to meet March 24. The airport is currently named after West Virginia native Chuck Yeager, a World War II fighter pilot ace and the first person to fly faster than sound. Yeager died in December at the age of 97.
