A fire at a reclaimed strip mine burned five-hundred acres about twenty miles south of Charleston. Dry weather, low humidity, and strong winds fueled the flames. No one was hurt. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The Division of Forestry says fires are prohibited between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. during restricted burning season, which began March 1st.
