Marshall University President Jerome Gilbert announced Wednesday he is not seeking an extension of his contract. Gilbert said the decision stems from a variety of personal and professional reasons, and he informed the Board of Governors that he will be stepping down from his position effective July 15, 2022. Gilbert has been Marshall’s president for the past five years, and he said he will work over the next 14 months to make it a smooth transition.
