The landmark opioid trial will continue Monday at the Byrd Federal Courthouse. Three local witnesses took the stand on Friday. An employee with the Huntington Mayor’s Office of Drug Control Policy testified that overdoses increased forty-percent from 2015 to 2016. A Cabell Huntington Hospital doctor testified that more than two-hundred babies a year are born at his hospital addicted to drugs because their mother put them into her system during pregnancy. And a retired salesperson with Cardinal Health talked about his sales in Huntington, where the Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy purchased over three-and-a-half-million doses of oxycodone between 2006 and 2014.
