Kanawha County lawmakers held a public hearing on Appalachian Power rate hike last night at the Labelle Theatre in South Charleston and dozens turned out to voice their opinions. WCHS TV reported that electric bills have gone up about 150% over 15 years for Appalachian Power residential customers and now the company wants to add an infrastructure surcharge that would translate to $5 to $9 a month for average home customers.
