James Hoyer leads the state’s pandemic taskforce, and said this week that demand for the Johnson and Johnson one-shot vaccine has almost dropped off completely. Demand continues for the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, which requires two doses. The state has administered nearly 84% of all vaccine doses in stock, and the hope is that the sweepstakes will increase the number of people seeking shots. Prizes range from hunting rifles to $1 million. The first prizes are set to be announced June 20, which also marks West Virginia’s birthday and the end of the mask mandate.
