Demolition work got underway Wednesday on fire-gutted apartments in Ravenswood the city had been battling to raze. WCHS TV reported that in March, firefighters responded to a blaze at the former Washington Motel. Two people were transported to the hospital. The owner of the building had balked at the city’s efforts to demolish the structure. In April, a notice was placed on the building’s door, saying occupants of the structure had 72 hours to remove their personal possessions before it was demolished.
