Charleston Groups Are Encouraged to Adopt a Street

Applications for the City of Charleston’s Adopt-a-Street program are available now. The program focuses on litter pickup on streets and alleyways that are maintained by the City. Individuals, families, churches, businesses, schools, civic organizations, government agencies, fraternities, sororities, are encouraged to adopt a street. Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin said clean streets leave a good first impression for visitors and potential businesses. The Adopt-a-Street program will provide year-round clean up efforts. The City will furnish trash bags, safety signs, gloves, safety vests and litter pickers. After completing two clean ups, the name of the adopter will be posted on a sign.
