Officials with West Virginia tourism are seeing a rise in state park visitation this year. State park deputy chief, Brett McMillion said on average, state parks see around 6 to 7 million visitors a year, and WCHS TV said that’s expected to reach nearly 10 million this year. October is a big month for visitors and then ski season is the next big draw. This year, state parks have made $27 million.
The town of Fayetteville is getting an economic boost from the extra visitors. Hotel bookings are up 20% from last year.
