Kanawha County grand jurors made indictments Friday in some high-profile incidents, including two attempted murder cases. Walter Pannell, a former aide at Horace Mann Middle School, was indicted on battery charges in connection with a case of alleged abuse inside a special needs classroom at the school. Bruce Hargis, was indicted on several charges in connection with an August 2021 incident where he is accused of stabbing a man in Mingo County and kidnapping a woman and child and then crashing a car in Charleston with a baby inside. WCHS TV said William Landon IV was indicted on attempted murder, malicious wounding and six other charges in connection with a May 2021 shooting in Cross Lanes. Deputies said Landon shot another man in the leg after the two got into an altercation earlier in the night.
