State Senate Passes Its Redistricting Map

After days of deadlock, moderate and conservative state Republican senators came up with a redistricting plan that passed easily with only two Democrats voting no. It took days of debate but when the vote came, it passed 31 to 2.
One of the negative votes came from Sen. Richard Lindsay, D-Kanawha. Lindsey said the final map split Kanawha County three ways, which he said doesn’t make much sense since Kanawha County is the most populous county in the state. WCHS TV reported that Sen. Charles Trump, R-Morgan, said he thought the proposed amendment resolved issues that had been debated.
