A federal magistrate this week ordered a man accused of dropping pipe bombs and hoax devices onto several barges in the Ohio River be detained without bond. Nathaniel Becker had a preliminary and detention hearing in front of Magistrate Dwane Tinsley in U.S. federal court. Investigators said they believe the laid off ironworker dropped three pipe bombs and two hoax devices onto the barges from a catwalk under the I-77 bridge between Wood County, W.Va., and Marietta, Ohio. An AFT agent testified Becker admitted to buying some of the components of the devices at the Lowe’s in Marietta.
