New Library Will Include Tool Rentals

Work on the $32 million renovation of the Kanawha County Public Library is nearing the end of the hard construction phase. Library director Erika Connelly told WCHS TV that they are shooting for a spring opening next year and when that happens, visitors will see a first for libraries in the state. The tool library is a lending library for tools. You can check out a hammer or a socket wrench set, and even a leaf blower. A new Idea Lab will be an interactive space to play with emerging technologies like 3-D printers and robots for all ages. When the newly renovated library opens, they will still keep a presence at the Charleston Town center. It will be an express pickup area with an internet café.
