New Mask Policy for Mason County Schools Will Go Into Effect in January

The Mason County Board of Education updated its face mask policy this week. Board members voted unanimously that the requirement for masks in schools will be dependent upon the number of positive COVID-19 cases in each school. If the number of positive cases is less than 1% of students and staff combined in the school, masks will be optional for the following week.
Board members decided that if the number of positive cases is 1% or greater of students and staff combined in the school, masks will be required throughout the following week. The number of positive cases in a school will be determined on the preceding Friday. The changes will begin on Tuesday, January 18. Students who ride buses will still be required to wear masks regardless of whether masks are required in their schools.
