Vaccines and Boosters Are Encouraged as Case Numbers Climb

The Kanawha-Charleston Health Department reported Saturday that 250 new cases have been identified and that was the fourth day in a row of more than 200 new cases added. Active cases are at 1,452, up 16. The county now has had more than 30,000 virus cases during the pandemic. On Thursday, a joint statement was issued by the health department, Kanawha County Commission and city of Charleston, urging the public to help against the fight against coronavirus. Officials said hospitals cannot handle more high rates of COVID patients filling beds and them not being able to care for those who have other illnesses. Residents were urged to get vaccinated and those who are eligible to get boosters were encouraged to do so.
