The city of Hurricane has scheduled two trail runs for 2022, including a 100K race on the Meeks Mountain trail system. WCHS TV said trail building at Hurricane City Park began late in 2018 to improve the health and well-being of the community and to provide opportunities for economic growth, according to a news release from the Meeks Mountain Trail Alliance. The first race of 2022 is the Crush Run which is scheduled for Feb. 5. Three formats are available for runners including a half-marathon, 5k race, and a one-mile track for kids. The Hurricane 100K will be the first race of its kind in West Virginia and is scheduled for Sept. 10. Runners will have 18 hours to complete the race which requires six laps around a 10.3-mile track. Right now there are more than 20 miles of trails open at Hurricane City Park which are popular with mountain bikers, trail runners, and hikers.
