A Charleston man faces charges after police said he choked another man and struck him multiple times with a garden stake. Joshua King was arrested after police responded to a home on Harless Avenue to investigate a malicious wounding report, according to a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court. Police interviewed the alleged victim and a witness and determined King choked the man and hit him with a garden stake the suspect found in the yard. The suspect fled into the woods, and officers tried using a K-9 unit to track him. The complaint said officers reported hearing someone call for help and followed the sound of the voice to locate King and arrest him. King was charged with malicious wounding and strangulation.
