The Village of Coal Grove has a new police department on duty again after the village’s entire department resigned earlier this year. Three new officers have been hired along with two auxilary officers. After the police chief and others resigned at a village council meeting in January, Bill Murphy was appointed Coal Grove’s new chief in February, coming over from the Proctorville Police Department. The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office and Ohio State Highway Patrol Troopers helped out in the interim.
