Police said 24-year old Edriene D. Sutton is charged with two counts of driving under the influence causing death after a crash on I-77 about 3 a.m. on Feb. 26. Charleston Police said Sutton was driving a vehicle that struck another car near the Leon Sullivan exit. A passenger in Sutton’s vehicle, 27-year old Brittany J. Weldon, and the driver of the second vehicle, 37-year old Joshua D. Robinson, were pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators said a bottle of Bombay Sapphire Dry Gin was found in the driver’s floorboard of Sutton’s vehicle following the crash. During a follow-up interview at the hospital, police said Sutton admitted to drinking and driving the night of the crash. Sutton was released from a Charleston hospital Monday and immediately taken into custody.
