DEP to Host a Meeting on Cancer-Causing Emissions

The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection will host an open house to provide information on Ethylene Oxide air emissions in western Kanawha County. The meeting is scheduled for Saturday, March 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Dunbar Recreation Center at 2601 Fairlawn Avenue in Dunbar. Ethylene Oxide is a colorless, odorless gas used to produce a variety of everyday products. The South Charleston and Institute areas include census tracts identified by the EPA as having a potentially elevated lifetime cancer risk, primarily driven by EtO emissions. You’ll have a chance to meet with health officials and ask questions at the come-and-go event.
