Gov. Jim Justice has asked an advisory panel to reopen the application period for an intermediate court judge position after one of the previous nominees recently withdrew from consideration. Donald Nickerson, who was set to be sworn into a six-and-a-half year term in May, withdrew from the nomination process last week. He was appointed to the position in December. The governor announced this week that he has formally requested that the West Virginia Judicial Vacancy Advisory Commission provide a new list of names to choose from to fill the position.
The JVAC reopened the application period immediately, with any new applications due by April 15, 2022.
