BridgeValley to Downsize its Montgomery Campus

A new master plan approved by BridgeValley Community and Technical College officials calls for a downsizing of its Montgomery campus and an expansion of its nursing program. The plan recommends reducing the number of occupied buildings at its Montgomery campus from 13 to five in an effort to reduce costs. The board said a third-party team of engineers found that the overall space per full-time student comes out to be about 135-140 square feet per person. The college’s South Charleston campus currently has about 259 square feet per student, but the Montgomery campus has about 1,600 square feet per student. The reduction would save the college nearly $500,000 in costs each year and students would still have double the amount of space needed.
