Gov. Jim Justice has appointed Charles O. Lorensen to the state’s newly created intermediate court of appeals. Lorensen has been appointed to a six-and-a-half year term that was vacated by the withdrawal of Donald Nickerson Jr. in December. The new appointee has previously served in public offices as chief of staff for then-Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin, cabinet secretary for the West Virginia Department of Revenue and commission of the West Virginia State Tax Department. He currently is a member of Kay Casto & Chaney PLLC. Lorensen must be confirmed by the West Virginia Senate before he can assume his duties by July 1. His term will conclude Dec. 31, 2028.
