FEMA Has Yet to Issue a Disaster Declaration After May Floods

Now that the state has asked for a disaster declaration, it is up to the federal government whether or not the region will qualify for FEMA funding. WCHS TV spoke with the pastor at Enslow Park Presbyterian Church who said they are about 50% through their recovery process after the May 6 floods. The city estimates 200 homes were damaged but many experienced basement and garage flooding. A spokesperson with FEMA Region 3 said there are a number of factors that go into declaring a disaster and what type of disaster is declared. FEMA lists it out on their website.
