The Cabell County School District has taken over the old Sears building in the Huntington Mall with plans to expand student space, and the demolition process is complete. It’s a $40-million project that will give students a large conference room to use and cafeteria space for banquets. The Huntington Mall location cuts down on drive time for some students who used to fight construction and delays getting to the career center. Now that demolition is finished the project will enter the design phase, and then the project will go out for bid. Construction could begin before the end of the year.
