Severe weather this week led to some dangerous conditions with uprooted trees and downed power lines across the region. First responders and road maintenance crews worked in the heat to restore power help those who needed it. Part of Elk River Road near Elkview was shut down Wednesday after several power lines were ripped down from severe storms this week. WCHS talked with Nicholas Booker works for Area Wide Protectives who said working in the heat doesn’t bother him because it’s just a part of the job. Charleston bike cop, Sean Wiggins, said the same thing. Wiggins said one way to beat the heat is to just keep moving. Today’s high will be around 90, with cooler temperatures on the way this weekend.
