Ripley Elementary Suffers Flood Damage

Heavy rain pounded the region Wednesday evening, drawing flash flood warnings for much of the area, including Jackson County, which saw some of the worst of the storms. Eyewitness News reported that flood waters poured into Ripley Elementary School and filled hallways, classrooms, and the gym. Water receded before it reached the main breaker room so power was not impacted. Jackson County Schools are set to start school on Aug. 24. It is unclear when Ripley Elementary will be reopened.
