DOH Warns of Possible Road Damage From Floodwaters

The West Virginia Division of Highways said part of Kellys Creek Road near Sissonville was washed away Wednesday, Aug. 10. Runoff from heavy rain washed debris into the culvert, causing water to flow around and under the road, leaving a large sink hole. Officials said the washout should be a reminder to drivers to beware of high water on roads because what is or isn’t under the water could be dangerous. Road crews were able to quickly remove the debris from the culvert so water could flow again, but spent more than six hours repairing the roadway, which was washed out.
