Coffee shop owner’s case will go to a grand jury

A Logan County magistrate decided there was probable cause to send the case of the owner of the Hot Cup coffee shop – accused of sexual assault and child pornography – to a grand jury and refused to lower his $500,000 cash only bond.
Michael Cline appeared in court Tuesday for his preliminary hearing, where a state trooper testified about the allegations. A criminal complaint filed in Logan County Magistrate Court said a woman told State Police that she had a personal relationship with Cline from November 2015 until October 2019 and when she turned 18 in 2016, she had sent Cline about 100 nude photos of herself through her Facebook Instant Messenger account. The alleged victim also reported she sent about 30 graphic videos of herself. The complaint also said the alleged victim reported she had four years of violent sexual encounters with Cline. Another woman claimed in court she was assaulted by Cline when she was 11. Troopers served a search warrant Jan. 27 at the coffee shop.
